Saying Goodbye
I didn’t know you that long, probably three, maybe four years. In that time it was a pleasure to see your smiling face. It was a pleasure to serve you. If I didn’t get to say hello, I would think about it until your next visit. Anyway, the birthdays you celebrated here were special, especially the big “80”.
Watching you ‘go to school’ with my granddaughter Ava tickled my heart. You know she really never got to meet her Grandpa, but you were a very good stand in. Trying to get you to eat Italian food was always a goal of mine. I could never understand why you didn’t like the food I loved. Maybe it was the stubborn old Southerner that you were. It was my pleasure to meet your family, to bring food to your sister at the assisted living center. It was my joy to tease your other half while trying to pay the CEO of the company.
An empty booth will always remind me of you. I know you’re fine. It’s me that won’t ever be the same. You see I didn’t lose a patron I lost family. You hold a special place in my heart. The message of you passing came to me last Saturday with a special tweak. That it was your wish to visit us one last time. That would have been my wish too. You see I didn’t get to say goodbye.
I purposely omitted your name as a matter of privacy to your loved ones God Rest your soul.
